Last year I tried to follow my resolution of wearing every item I own. I feel like I have so many t-shirts and accessories yet I never wear them. I have no idea what is in my closet and complain how I have nothing to wear. However, I found myself having difficulty with that New Year's resolutions because I kept buying clothes! So now I'm adjusting my resolutions to two I can hopefully follow:
1. No more fast fashions! I definitely feel I need to invest in my quality pieces, rather than shopping at H&M every few months. At 25, it is definitely time for me to develop a mature wardrobe. That doesn't mean it has to be boring. I can still get some trendy pieces, but I need to get my shopping under control and invest in pieces that will last. For the NYC Cares Coat Drive, I donated 5 coats. I never knew I had that many coats! Who needs that many coats?! Don't even get me started on my accessories addiction...
2. Get rid of clothes that don't fit! I'm completely guilty of keeping clothes that I hope will fit again one day. Every woman has her "skinny" jeans that fit when she was at her ideal figure. Living in Manhattan though, there isn't a lot of space. I need to face reality and accept what fits me now. Not have this double wardrobe of "maybe I'll fit into it in a couple months." Rather I should be donating them to women who really do need them (and fit in them). I'll be making many stops to Goodwill in 2011!
What are your New Year's resolutions for 2011? Are you guilty of holding onto clothes that don't fit?
