Leighton showed up to the 20th Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards in NYC wearing *gasp* a suit. I love that! I'm a huge fan of women wearing menswear or menswear inspired pieces. Also, this is an "independent" event so she could be a little more hip with her style choices. It's not a serious red carpet where she has to wear the hottest designer dress (or bad lace jumpsuit).
I liked her makeup (although she looked like she had bags), but not sure I like the green clutch with the look. Maybe a brighter colored shoe?
But I like that she takes risks. I definitely am more of a Leighton than a Blake.

Rihanna Gets Interviewed by Kanye For 'Interview Magazine'
RiRi is showing off her great fashion sense in Interview's December/January issue. I'm loving her hair in this shoot!

Beauty Products I'm Loving Right Now
I've been looking for a good concealer for pale skin since my e.l.f. concealer wasn't cutting it anymore. Being fair skinned, dark circles tend to be more visible no matter how much rest you got the night before. Very frustrating! One of the popular answers was Benefit's Boi-ing industrial-strength concealer. I ordered it the palest shade (of course) 01. It costs $18 at Sephora.
I also was due for a new mascara and after seeing The Fish Tank's review, I really wanted to try this mascara. I bought it at Bed, Bath & Beyond for under $4 but I don't see it online for that prices. It's available on Walgreens for $5. B,B, & B has been my go to place for beauty products since Manhattan has limited beauty supply stores.
I'm loving this mascara! I love dramatic lashes and this mascara definitely achieves it. I enjoyed their Lash Stiletto mascara but this brush is fuller and definitely pumps up the volume. Just an FYI, I'm not a fan of CoverGirl's Lash Blast, just so you can gauge my preference.
Here is me wearing both products:
Before (no makeup):

After (tinted moisturizer, concealer and mascara):

I'm really pleased with both!

| Katy Perry and Russel Brand adopt Justin Bieber |
Rihanna- I liked this but also felt very reminiscent of Lady Gaga, no?
Taylor Swift- She showed off a more grown up look. Maybe Miley should take some lessons?
Katy Perry- She actually looked like a sophisticated lady, no crazy outfit. She also stood out among all the red and black, which I appreciated.
I'm sorry, Willow Smith can do no wrong!
Kelly Osbourne- She's been looking great lately, but not liking the hair.
Stana Katic- As a "Castle" fan, I was so giddy to see Stana (Beckett) and Nathan Fillion (Castle) there. She looked sohot!
Pink- not looking pregnant one bit!
On the fence:
Jenny McCarthy- The dress was okay, don't like the hair.
Mandy Moore was also just okay for me. She didn't wow me, but didn't look awful.
Worst:
Ke$ha- She is always such a hot mess. Confession: I did like the studded eyebrows. I'm a sucker for studs.
I'm sorry, I have to put Heidi Klum here. I was so sick of all the alien head poofs and I'm not liking the bottom half of this dress.
Miley Cyrus looked like she stepped out of the bathroom with toilet paper stuck to her dress. Although I commend her for not wearing black lace or sequin minis like everyone else.
Fergie- I felt like this dress needed to remove some pieces, a lot going on.
Christina Milian had the same issue as Fergie, too much!
Sheryl Crow just looked like an old lady wearing a drape. She can do better!
Avril Lavigne is trying to bring the 90s look back... no!

I Don't Drink, No I'm Not Mormon
When people find out that I don't drink alcohol, they are usually shocked or impressed. Then they ask, “Oh, are you Mormon?” Is that the only reason someone doesn’t drink who is in their twenties? No, I’m not Mormon (I’m actually Atheist, but that’s another post for another time).
Then I get asked if I’m straight edge. I’m not a fan of the label "straight edge." I think people use it for the wrong reasons. I feel like those who label themselves as “straight edge” are doing it to suppress urges or to be “trendy.” I didn’t decide not to drink, nor do I have the urge. I just happen to be a person who doesn’t like the taste of alcohol.
Nor do I think I need to be applauded by someone telling me, "That is so impressive." Is it really? To me it's like someone who doesn't eat brussel sprouts won't eat them because they taste bad.
I'm not cutting myself off from something I once enjoyed. I'm simply not drinking beverages I don't like. Why is it so hard to imagine someone not liking alcohol? Trust me, at 25, all my friends have tried to get me to taste drinks that they swear are delicious. I have yet to find one. If I can smell the alcohol then it completely puts me off. If a drink is successful enough to get past the smell test, I’m not a fan of the burning sensation in my throat either. I much prefer the taste of a Shirley Temple, thank you very much. Have you ever had one? Now those are delicious!
This isn’t to say I judge people who enjoy their beers or martinis. I do find it amusing when I have to recount a person’s actions to them the previous morning. I don’t really understand the joy in not remembering a single thing you did the night before. But that’s just me. No, I’m not a prude. I will lose my inhibitions from time to time. I just don’t need alcohol in order to do so. All I need is a sugar high and my best friend around to be a goofball.
I don’t ever feel like I decided to not drink. I just stuck with what tasted good to me. Yet people literally are taken aback when they find out. Is it really that shocking? Or should it be that shocking? Do any of you Lovelies not drink?

I Found the Perfect Pair of Combat Boots!
I'm loving the combat boot trend for fall. I have been searching and searching for the right pair... for me. Then I found these babies on Victoria's Secret... go figure!
They're studded (I die!) lace booties from Skechers! They cost $130, but VS always has great deals so I was able to get $15 off. Hooray!
They arrived in the mail today and I love them! They fit great, they have a dirtied up look and are comfortable. I'm dying over the studs :) I can't wait to wear them out.

2010 CFDA/'Vogue' Awards
Billy Reid won this year's CFDA/Vogue prestigious award. He'll receive $300,000 and a year long mentorship with a fashion professional. The menswear design works out of a small town in Alabama.
Some of the attendees:
Love me some Christina Ricci in Peter Som.
Really Olsen twins? All black and shaggy fur coats?
THE Diane von Furstenberg!
I'm sorry but Tory Burch is boring me in this number.
Love that she's having fun with it!
Zac Posen kind of looks like he's wearing a woman's suit, doesn't he?
Nice Chevrolet stripes Ms. Wintour.
Mary-Louise Parker has been disappointing me lately. She couldn't have done her hair? It's Vogue people!
Alexa Chung looks cute (still too skinny).
Blake Lively looked freaken' hot in Chanel and Louboutin pumps!
Kim K. looking a little matronly. Too much blue. And is she wearing blue eye makeup? Oh, hell no!
Oh, Ed Westick... how I love you!
Carey Mulligan, who it was just announced will be playing Daisy in the upcoming "Great Gatsby" movie. So excited!
And my girl, Leighton. So happy to see the stylish cast of "Gossip Girl" out!

| How cute is he? |
Jeff Bridges got Icon of the Year.
Drake received Breakout of the Year. I still haven't gotten into his songs. I do like his style. I'm glad rappers are starting to dress better nowadays.
James Franco received Leading Man of the Year. I really don't get why these chose this photo. Not very flattering. Franco has been taking on more challenging and unique roles, which I applaud him. I hope he wins some awards for his great performances!
