Man Candy Week: Bad Boys That Make Me Melt

I enjoyed doing the bow ties and tattoos post so much that I felt we needed a "Man Candy Week" on this blog. I've created a list of men to drool over for every day this week, you are welcome. Kim has a bad reputation of dating the "bad boy." I don't know, there is something about them that makes us melt. Today's list includes guys who actually have lived the bad boy lifestyle (not just play them in movies). Without further adieu:

Johnny Depp- He is a god (lol!). He is hands down the sexiest man in Kimberlee's eye. He can do no wrong in my book. I don't like smokers- he smokes. I don't like facial hair- he rocks it. I dislike long hair on a man- he can pull it off. No other man can get away with that.

Shia LaBeouf- I had a crush on this kid when he was the young brother on Even Stevens (anyone?). Wow, did he grow up to be a sexy mother shut your mouth. I watch all his movies because he's nice to look at I think he's a great actor. He's done some amazing work (outside of the Transformers movies) Just wish he'd straighten out his non-acting activities so he doesn't turn into a male Lindsay Lohan.

Eminem- I find his intensity so attractive. I guess because I presume he brings the intensity and passion he uses for his raps into the bedroom. He's lived a rough life so you know he's finally matured (and got rid of that bleached hair!). All women enjoy a man who is musically talented.

Bam Margera- He's the hottest of the Jackass crew. He has the dark hair, light eyes combination which gets me every time. Clearly, he has a sense of humor. I also kind of adore that he cries in the movies; it shows he's sensitive.

Ed Westwick- I'll take him or Chuck Bass any day of the week. He has an incredible jawline, an accent and tattoos! He also has great personal style and Chuck Bass can pull off anything. I watch Gossip Girl for 3 reasons: Chuck Bass, the fashion and the Twitter discussion.

Who are some bad boys who make you melt?

My Strawberry Nails

I got this idea from Sherin of Hi Fashion. I saw her post and had to try it! I thought no better time for strawberry nails than Memorial Day Weekend.

For anyone who wants to recreate this look, just a note: In her post, the artist made jagged lines so rather than just painting a straight green line I figured I'd get a nail art pen. I purchased Milani's nail art "brush" which fooled me into thinking it was a pen but it was just one of those thin tip brushes. I made it work. I also applied the China Glaze nude color first because I'm super anal and didn't want any of my white nail tip to show behind the green. That was just my preference.

Products used:
- China Glaze's "Sunset Sail" (one thin layer first)
- China Glaze's "Hey Sailor" (applied after using French tip tracing stickers)
- Color Club's Nail Art brush in White
- Milani's Nail Art brush in Green Sketch

I think it looks better on longer nails so it came out better on my right hand (even though I'm right handed) for some reason. But I like it!

Would you give this manicure a try?

7 Women Who Embrace Their Curves

Now that swimsuit season has arrived and I'm petrified. I need some positive encouragement about my figure. Here are some ladies that remind me that curves are sexy!

All bow to Christina Hendricks. I would go lesbian for her (lol!).

Sexy Sofia Vergara... this woman is insanely beautiful!

Not only does Adele have a wonderful voice, I think she's beautiful!

Salma Hayek has those Latin curves.

I liked Scarlett Johansson when she had more meat on her. Still a gorgeous girl!

America Ferrara (a.k.a "Ugly Betty") has been open about loving her body even though it might not be the typical body for most TV actresses in a lead role.

And we all remember Whitney, the first ever plus-sized model to win ANTM!

Anyone else you think should be added to the list?

FBFF: Hair Care

Can I be her?

I kind of had a secret desire to be a hair model. I wanted my hair to be that big and shiny. Now I realize it's completely fabricated but we all try to live up those ads, don't we? I guess this topic also relates to my hair journey post.

1. How often do you get your hair cut?
I am very stubborn with my hair, stylists love me- not! I know what I like for my hair so I don't get it cut too often just in case I don't like it. I also like my hair long so I like to leave time in between for it to grow out. I'm pretty blessed with no split ends so I don't feel that I need a trim constantly so I get it cut maybe two or three times a year.

2. Do you go to the same stylist each time, try someone new, go to the cheap hair cutting chains or live it up in a salon?
I stay pretty loyal. I went to a stylist at my mom's salon and stayed loyal even when I moved out to New York (she's in California). I was going back often enough that it was fine but recently I started trying salons around New York. I am on a fixed income so I can't splurge. I tried the Aveeda hair school where for $20 students cut your hair but wasn't too happy with it. I got my hair done for my graduation at another place and was not happy. So now I'm going to a chain called Dramatics which is $40 (amazing price in Manhattan) and they don't hassle me. I know how I like my hair so they cut it that way.

3. Do you color your hair? How often? What’s your natural color?
Nope. "Virgin" hair as I guess they would say. I've joked that when I start going gray that I'm going to dye it bright red (which I might do) but otherwise I like my natural color.

4. The one thing you always do to keep your hair looking great is:
Oh that's tough... I guess not washing it every day. My hair definitely looks and feels better the less I wash it. I usually go about 4 days (some dry shampoo in between). I've recently fallen in love with heat protectant sprays!

5. What hair trend do you love and wish you could rock?
I've always admired girls who can pull off short hair. I don't think I can pull it off but girl's like Carey Mulligan look so cute with it. I can dream!

What hair trend do you wish you could pull off?

My 6 Favorite Summer Beauty Products

I've already shared my new favorite fragrance for this warm weather, now I'd thought I'd share my favorite beauty products!

Aveeno Active Naturals Positively Radiant Cleansing Pads- These are amazing! I use these every night to wash my face and it makes my skin feel so invigorated.

Bare Escentuals SPF 25 Mineral Veil- In the summertime I like to switch over to mineral powder makeup. Bare Escentual's mineral veil is very lightweight and also has SPF in it.

Stila Cosmetics Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30- If I also want to add some more coverage to my mineral veil, I'll first apply Stila's Tinted Moisturizer, which also has SPF.

Rosebud Salve Lip Balm- I live for this stuff! It can be used not only for dry lips but dry cuticles or burns. I also feel that the rose adds a little color to your lips.

Vasanti Cosmetics Ultra-Moisturizing Tinted Lipbalm - Tahiti- If I want more color on my lips then I opt for a great tinted lip balm, such as Vasanti's. I get Tahiti which is a bright pink.

Coppertone Nutrashield Sunscreen Lotion- No matter your skin color, sunblock is a must-have! I personally love Coppertone's NutraShield with Dual Defense because it helps prevent premature skin aging and has lasted me ALL day. It doesn't sweat off and doesn't have a bad odor.

What are your beauty must haves?

Zappos Is A Girl's Best Friend

Special delivery for Kim! Today my Zappos purchases arrived. I can't stress enough how much I enjoy Zappos's customer service. They are so friendly and helpful. Since I'm VIP all my orders get shipped overnight FREE which does NOT help my addiction!

I was looking for some great shoes for summer and here's what I got:

These tan gladiator Cole Haan sandals came in an awesome bag which had a divider to put a shoe in it's own side. I was impressed (lol!)!

These fuchsia floral sandals I bought to see if they were comfortable. Guess what? They are! I'm absolutely adoring these.

And lastly these Michael Kors wedges are super comfy. They also came with a bright orange Michael Kors shoe bag.

I'm not sure if I should keep all three (seems excessive) but I love them all!

Do you shop Zappos? What is you go-to shoe for summer?

Getting My Education On

Tomorrow I start classes at NYU where I'll be studying Digital Media Marketing (aka social media). Hip Hip Hooray! It was a long decision process because going back to school means spending more money. However, this degree will help me with my future career and you can never have too much knowledge, right? I've always been one of those nerds who actually enjoyed school (except math class!).

I've been out of school for two years so I'm feeling nervous. Buying notebooks and filling up my pencil case brings back so many memories. I hope it's not too stressful since I'll be juggling blogging, consulting and studying! Yes, I think women can do it all so now let's hope I can (lol!).

Are any of you continuing your education? Got any tips?

Should We Reclaim The Word 'Slut'?

MTV had an interesting article about high school girls reclaiming the word "slut" after being teased. It is a very sensitive topic and I applaud the girls for bravely taking to the streets to spread the message. Too many flashbacks to high school or even to the movie Mean Girls. Using these types of words can shatter a girl's reputation, self-esteem and confidence.

Bullying has become an epidemic and something needs to be done. The are too many stories about teens and even college students killing themselves because they were teased. I understand trying to defend yourself by saying you aren't what these words claim so therefore you are okay with being called them. They say they are taking away the negative connotations by using it in a positive context. A prime example (stick with me here), Lady Gaga has empowered herself by claiming the word "bitch" with lyrics like "I'm a free bitch, baby." I know girls who say they are proud to be called a bitch because it means someone is threatened by their confidence or by how empowered they are. I get that. Beauty bloggers coin themselves as "product whores" because they are obsessed with makeup or skincare products. It's a cute name and I know they aren't meaning any harm by it.

It all sounds great on the surface but it's too idealistic in my opinion. Personally, I have always felt that if you want to take away the power of word then don't say it at all. Words will always hurt. The word faggot won't hurt less because it gets said more, but I think by not using it at all we as a society show that we don't want to use negative connotations towards certain groups of people. It really isn't that hard to not say these words. We need to expand our vocabulary. I really dislike when people say "that's so gay" to describe something as "lame" or "stupid." I bring it to the attention of anyone who says it (mostly my male friends) and ask "why not just use the word stupid?" Yes, you have to make a conscious effort to not say a word, but after awhile it will become a habit and it won't be part of your vocabulary anymore. Quitting cigarettes is hard but once you get over the hump, isn't it for the best?

If I was in high school and someone shouted "slut" at me in the hallways, I wouldn't respond "why thank you" in hopes the person who shouted it will get the irony of it all. But rather something like "you are sadly mistaken" or "check your facts buddy." Call me pessimistic, but I don't think accepting the title is going to empower women. If these protests or "slutwalks" empower these teen girls then I'm for it but in the end I'm worried it damages more reputations. For as long as the world has existed, people (mostly men) have been threatened by a woman's sexuality. Who knows why... I guess it's a powerful thing. So use it for good!

Do you think owning these words empowers women? Or are we just asking to be called these names more often?

Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" Album Is Released

It's finally here! Lady Gaga's Born This Way cd was released yesterday because I don't think she could release anymore songs. I purchased the deluxe edition album, which includes 23 songs for $15.99 on iTunes.

This is problem Gaga's most political album with songs like "Americano," "Government Hooker," and "Bad Kids." As well as religious songs like "Judas," "Black Jesus + Amen Fashion," and "Bloody Mary." Of course, they are set to pop beats that you can dance to in typical Gaga fashion.

What's your favorite song?

Favorite Father's Day Tradition

My Dad in front of his favorite pizza place

Tiny Prints invited us to discuss our favorite Father's Day traditions. My dad likes to relax on Father's Day. He'll usually hit some golf balls and then enjoy Italian food. My Dad is like Buddy from the movie Elf with the 3 food groups, except his are: Italian, Italian and Italian.

I still have to decide what to get the man for Father's Day. He is quite difficult to buy gifts for since he can buy whatever he needs! Does anyone else find men difficult to shop for?

Here are some fun Father's Day cards:

Funny and unique!
For the car lover

For the golf fanatic... like mine

What are some of your Father's Day traditions?

Suffer From Dry, Damaged Hair? Get Bed Head!

I have tried countless products to help my hair. It's not dyed, it's not typically dry, and I don't over wash it. But apparently, your hair can change texture every 7 to 8 years. I definitely think my hair was going through some changes. My typical drugstore shampoo/conditioner routine that I've been using since high school was no longer cutting it anymore.

I found a miracle worker with TIGI Bed Head Moisture Maniac Moisturizing Conditioner. It was a costly $26 at a local beauty store but it has worked! After trying so many failed products (hair mask, leave-in conditioners) my hair seems happy with this product. It also smells great!

If you would've asked me 5 years... heck even 2 years ago if I thought investing in expensive hair products was worth it, I would've said no. I sit before you (behind a computer screen, of course) saying I am a changed woman. I definitely think certain hair types need salon quality products.

What conditioner do you swear by?
