FBFF: Keeping It Trendy

Source: michellephan.com via Life on Pinterest

FBFF is back! And this week Katy asked us to answer a few questions about upcoming trends.

1. With Fashion Week just around the corner, we are all beginning to focus on the upcoming trends for fall. But what about the trends hitting stores now? What are you coveting?
I'm still admiring leather from a far. I need to finally make a purchase! I'm really loving colorful pants. I got those awesome J. Crew pants for Christmas and recently purchased bright pink Rachel Roy pants from MYHABIT.

2. How do you incorporate new trends into your wardrobe?
I take a basic outfit or my "uniform" and punch it up with a new trend. For example, wear a white tee and jeans but pairing it with oxfords instead of a sandal. Or wearing a bold lip with a simple makeup look. Need to find a good balance.

3. What trend are you seeing and not loving?
I've noticed the drop waist look on the runways for spring. I'm not a fan of this look just because it's not a flattering for most shapes of women. I'm curvy with hips and this would just look awful on me.

4. Do you feel the pressure to constantly update your closet with the latest trends?
No. When you work in fashion you feel pressure to come up with creative outfits every day at the office. I like watching the trends and deciding what will work for my body before making a purchase.

5. Where do you find inspiration that takes the trend and makes it accessible to you and your personal taste?
Blogs! Bloggers really show me how a trend can work for me. I get so many ideas from them!

How do you keep up with the trends?

  2. SO agree about the drop waist! I'm curvy too, so that style just makes my figure look confused. I don't think it does anyone any favours actually, because it just makes slimmer women looks disproportional. It is no one's friend! I love your suggestions about spicing up you fashion "uniform". I'm not great at integrating new makeup styles, but I tend to do this more with accessories. It's a great way to ease into a new style.

  6. MYHABIT is definitely the most underrated flash sale site, right? I love that they have free shipping. And I'm totally not a fan of the drop waist either, ugh. Definitely not the best look for most women.
