A popular trend that has hit the runways and the streets is peplums! I've been dying to get my hands on a great peplum top. Unfortunately, I have yet to find one! Now you may think as a curvy woman, I should be avoiding peplum but it can actually be quite flattering! When selecting a peplum piece here are some guidelines to follow:
- Make sure it is structured. No jersey knit fabrics that hang loosely, you want it to flare out, not hang on your body.
- The peplum flare should be wider than your hips. You don't want something that just sits on your hips, you want something that accentuates your small waist.
- The flare should start from your waist. You are trying to show off your frame so make sure the peplum hits the right part of our body.
- No elastic waist bands! The peplum should be a structured piece of the garment, not an illusion created by an elastic band inserted in the garment. It's never a good look!
Here's some of my favorite ladies rocking the look:

Thank you so much for featuring me.
ReplyDeleteOf course!
DeleteI think it's a cute style, yet I don't have the right body to pull it off :(
ReplyDeleteI think it's all about finding the right piece :)
DeleteI really love the peplum trend. I am just not sure I can pull it off. I think it would make me look larger in my hips.
ReplyDeleteI think that's a big misconception. I have big hips and I'm not afraid!
DeleteI've been wanting and shirt or skirt like this for months! I found a skirt at Torrid but I'm waiting for my coupon to kick in. Haha!
ReplyDeleteI hope you get the skirt!
DeleteI can't find a peplum top either! I've seen peplum dresses, but I really want a top haha.
ReplyDeleteGAH! Let me know if you do :) Style Within Reach was wearing H&M but I couldn't find it when I went :(
DeleteIm so happy this is back in. I have a dress i boufht for my birthday 3years ago i can wear!
ReplyDeleteOooh can't wait to see it!
DeleteI really can't bring myself to like this look. I loke more clean lines, and I find peplum adds an unnecessary detail and tends to cut the body in half... I think I'll happily admire the ladies who pull it off so well!
ReplyDeletehaha it's not for everybody :)
DeleteThey looks gorgeous

Don't they? Love seeing real girls pull off this look!
DeleteI have to admit I'm still biased when it comes to peplums, and it's probably not something I'll add to my wardrobe. But then again - who knows? It might grow on me, it has happened before:)
ReplyDeletehehe I hope it grows on you, it definitely grew on me!
Deletei love this trend!! Style within reach pulls it off the best I think, I am in love with her look! I love atlantic pacifics but I can't see myself ever wearing that haha
