Online dating is pretty comical sometimes. You really see what kind of weirdos are out there. You definitely need a sense of humor if you're going to do it. I definitely don't expect to find the man of my dreams but someone to have fun with. When it comes to creating your online profile, I feel like women put a lot more thought and effort into them than heterosexual men (can only speak from my experience). Browsing profiles today on OkCupid I came across a trend: men sipping on straws. I'm always intrigued why people select the profile pictures they do. Yes, these are all their main profile pics that people see while browsing (otherwise I wouldn't have clicked on them). What are they trying to tell us with these? That they're fun, have a sense of humor, like to drink coffee? You be the judge...
And one featured what I think is him (or so I hope) in costume sipping a straw:
What do you think of this online dating trend? Would you hit one of these guys up?

I actually used yahoo personals and found my husband so you never know what online dating could lead to. As for the sipping straw trend, I find it a bit bizarre.

I think it's the new age version of "pretend this is a candid photo but really I just spent 15 minutes setting this up"...it's the equivalent of the "ok smile...no laugh...yeah look like someone just said something really funny...yeah like you're having fun" instead of ya know...actually just having fun lol.

DeleteI actually have an OkCupid account ( a friend suggested me signing up to get over my ex during my summer in New England). I am not digging it much; I've met ONE person in person and he turned out to have no REAL friends and wanted to see me all day everyday and even showed up at my house once! some of those guys aren't horrible looking, and NYC has a better pool to pick from so maybe...maybe I'd give someone a chance!
