Anyone who has been following my blog for awhile now knows... I like to get in the holiday spirit with my nails! July 4th is coming up so I decided to do some red, white and blue nails. In the past I did detailed flags on each nail:
It was a lot of effort so I decided to make it a little easier on myself this time. I used:
- Julep's "January" Nail Vernis as the red
- Zoya's "Breezi" as the blue
- Kiss French Nail Art pen for white stripes
- Silver star nail decor from my Julep Maven Mystery Valentine's Day box
While the blue polish was still wet, I added the silver stars with a Q-tip. They reminded me of Chinese throwing stars because they were very sharp. Not what I was hoping for (and they almost all chipped off after I showered so good thing I got a pic before).
I really liked how they came out!

I didn't realize the stars were glitter in the first picture. So cute!

DeleteVery clever, love your mani!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI love how amazing your nails came out! So gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteAww xoxo
DeleteSo fun! I got a pedicure yesterday and went with blue and glitter to be festive. I'm thinking I will do my fingernails red for the 4th. I'm sure I couldn't make stripes look good!
ReplyDeleteJust get a nail pen, will make any stripe look good!
DeleteThat is so cool! And so much easier than I would've thought!
ReplyDeleteYeah it's not too bad, just need a steady hand and a little patience :)
DeleteHow fun is this!!! I haven't tried my nails, but I did a flag pedicure last year. {It didn't turn out as nice as yours!} My big toe was the blue part and the others were stripes! Here's the post! http://styleofsam.blogspot.com/2011/07/star-spangled-toes.html
ReplyDeleteLOVE this!
xo, sam

DeleteGreat 4th of July mani. I have some star glitter too, but I think it also has moons too or else I would try to recreate these fun nails myself.
ReplyDeletehaha you could also try a glittery top coat
DeleteI did a 4th of July mani this week too, but mine was made with striping tape :)
ReplyDeleteI have to give those a try!
DeleteAh you are so creative Kim. This weekend I have a french manicure, which I am going to learn how to do myself. I'm finally enjoying some colour, but I also like simple too. Goodness I feel so grown up with nails, how did I live without them for so long?!
