Interview WIth LookSupply + GIVEAWAY!

I had the pleasure of meeting the founders of LookSupply.com at a friend's birthday party and turns out that one of them went to the same grade school I did - small world! I loved their personal style and admire any entrepreneur who goes after their dreams. I asked if they would be answer to interview a few questions for my blog. They were very gracious and I learned a lot.



How would you describe the LookSupply consumer?
Our girl is the one who stands out in the crowd, she loves to socialize and is the life of the party! She's fashion-forward, free-thinking, fun, edgy, hip and most importantly, loves to shop online!

What inspired you to create your own company? What did you feel was missing from the market?
We were tired of working for people that didn't "get it" when it came to fashion and we really wanted to be able to put our vision forward and offer a selection of goods that represented our tastes and personal style. We think there's lack of variety missing from the market because for the most part, accessible women's fashion tends to be monopolized by corporate retailers. Who wants to go out and see two other girls wearing the same outfit as you… right?!?!

What are some tips for someone looking to start their own fashion line or launch their own company?
1. Make sure that you LOVE what you do! (Because you will be eating, breathing and sleeping your job.)
2. Don't get discouraged! (You are going to have some really great days and some really horrible days. It's important to stay focused and keep plugging away.)
3. Network. (Because you can't do it alone!)

Where do you find your inspiration? 
In addition to our massive record collection and archival closets busting at the seams with vintage clothing, a huge inspiration comes from fashion blogs. The blogger community/culture is absolutely amazing in that it allows trends to progress so rapidly and so organically. We love seeing how bloggers style themselves, what they wear, how they wear it, where their inspiration was pulled from and what's currently trending. It's fascinating reading the comments and feedback on fashion blogs to see what people are saying and to simply see what they do and do not like. It's so great that people from all over the world can share styling tips, ideas, suggestions, ways of thinking and living, etc. with each other in such a personal way without ever meeting face to face. It's such an exciting time for fashion, there are people trying new things and pushing the envelope with their own personal style everywhere you look!

What is a Must-Have piece of jewelry on LookSupply at the moment?
Right now we are obsessed with The C'est La Vie Envelope Necklace! What girl wouldn't want to wear a little gold envelope on a chain around her neck with a miniature removable letter?!!!  HELLO….Cutest-thing-EVER.
