The stars brought back the Hollywood glam this year. The two popular trends from the runway were also on the red carpet: gothic glam and sea goddesses. On another note: loved that E! had a mani cam because being a nail person myself, I always want a close up shot! Here's my break down of all the red carpet arrivals.
Best Dressed: Ginnifer Goodwin. From the coral reef looking Monique Lhuillier gown, the Louboutin heels and the flawless makeup. She looked spectacular!

| Kat Dennings in J.Mendel | Tina Fey in Vivienne Westwood | Jena Malone in J. Mendel | January Jones in Zac Posen |
One of the big trends was goth colors of oxblood and black but in a glamour dress of course.
 |
| Edie Falco | Christine Hendricks in Christian Siriano | Jessica Pare of Mad Men |
Belts are not always appropriate for evening gowns. I loved Edie Falco's dress, her body looked amazing. I did not like Christina's belt on her dress. Didn't feel like it was needed.
 |
| Julianne Moore in Christian Dior Couture | Julie Bowen of Modern Family |
A surprising trend on the red carpet was bright, bold neon. I think both ladies looked gorgeous (see below for someone who didn't look so hot). I guess it's a lucky color because both ladies won!
 |
| Heidi Klum | Julianne Hough in vintage couture | Zooey Deschanel in Reem Acra | Nicole Kidman |
A big trend on the Spring 2013 runways was the sea and these ladies looked like goddesses rising from the sea.
 |
| Kerry Washington in Vivienne Westwood | Lucy Liu in Versace |
Both ladies wore head to toe metallics and looked fabulous. Lucy Liu's Versace dress was actually metal!
 |
| Elisabeth Moss of Mad Men | Ariel Winter of Modern Family |
I'm not typically a fan of short gowns on the red carpet but both of these ladies looked gorgeous in great prints and shorter hems.
Will cut come slack: Amy Poehler. She's going through a divorce so was hoping she would step it up. Her body looks great in this dress but felt the top was ill-fitting and didn't flatter her cleavage.
 |
| Claire Danes | Zosia Mamet of Girls | Lena Dunham of Girls | Melissa McCarthy |
Claire Danes was trying to hide
or show off her baby bump but this dress looked like unflattering on her. (But guess she didn't care too much since she was a big winner!) I was disappointed by the ladies of Girls. Zosia's dress had too many trends: cut-outs, sheer, slits, lace, etc. Lena's dress didn't give her any shape, probably would have liked it shorter. Melissa McCarthy was too covered up.
Who were your best and worst dressed on the red carpet?
I'm impressed how fast you got this post up. I'm not so impressed with the gowns tonight...a bit gaudy in general. I love the first one though. You have great taste!

haha it's all about taking good notes during the red carpet :)
DeleteWow girly you are quick! I loved everything you posted, but I must admit I thought Melissa McCarthy looked lovely.

ReplyDeleteGinnifer Goodwin is the love of my life, I swear. She is stunning.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree about Melissa McCarthy too. I really wish plus designers would stop trying to cover women up so much...or that plus women in the spotlight would be more bold in what they wear. I would have loved to see her in something sexier.
(I deleted my other comment due to typos, lol)
hehe it's okay
DeleteI agree! I felt like she was so covered up. Octavia Spencer did a great job last year at the Oscars. Plus it was 90 degrees so I'm sure she was dying in black, long-sleeved dress!
I quite like all those aqua looks. And Ginnifer Goodwin looked incredible! I love the dress.
ReplyDeleteIt's a big trend on the Spring 2013 runway shows. Glad you agree with Ginnifer :)
DeleteGinnifer Goodwin NAILED it! OMG, she looked like a dream...obsessed with everything about it. And can you imagine how freaking uncomfortable Lucy Lui must have felt in that dress???
ReplyDeleteLOVE Ginnifer's dress!!!
ReplyDeletei gotta say i was a bit underwhelmed by the fashions this year
ReplyDeletenothing just made me go.... wow!
