Fashion Week is in full swing here in New York City! It is the most exhausting thrill for fashionistas. You can be there from 9am to 9pm with shows, deal with rude people, be herded through passage ways as Standing, stand in line for a half hour or longer, but it's worth it. Like yesterday, while I was waiting for a later show, a PR girl came up to a friend and I to tell us they still had tickets to Monique Lhuillier so we should go. I couldn't pass it up! Monique Lhuillier is known for her gorgeous dresses that always appear on the red carpets. While I did get a seat, I unfortunately wasn't able to snap the best pics so I'm using Style.com's pics because you have to see how gorgeous these dresses were!
The handout says the collection is "inspired by water and life of the sea. Birds, brightly colored fish, glowing sunlight on water and luminescence of moonlit waves." You could definitely see the influence with gill like ruffles, water color prints and sparkling dresses. The MAC Pro team accompanied the looks with bold aqua shadows and Kerastase created waves in the models' hair. Some trends I spotted were:
While Monique Lhuillier is known for her amazing red carpet dresses. She sent several casual looks down the runway including pant suits. I loved the hint of peplum, water color prints and structure.
Show stoppers. I could see Kate Hudson or J.Lo wearing the gold gown as it had a low back. This is what she does best!
The last look made my jaw drop, it looked amazing (don't think it photographed the best unfortunately). It glimmered beautifully in the light and I loved the structured hint of peplum at the hip. She was like a gold mermaid - I definitely say it's Oscar worthy!
