Are You Ready For Holiday Shopping? Get Out the Apps!

Believe it or not, I've already began my holiday shopping. It wasn't on purpose. I just saw some items on sale that I knew were on people's list so figured I'd get them sooner rather than later. Holiday gift shopping has come along way since pen and paper. Mobile apps are revolutionizing the way we shop nowadays (and I love it!). We've all been there...

That's why I do most of my shopping online. But if you dare to go in to the stores this holiday season, here's how mobile apps can help you shop:

1. Compare prices. I think this is the best way to use your smartphone while shopping. RedLaser app allows you to comparison shop with the scan of a bar code. You can see if there's a better price somewhere else and some stores might be willing to let you purchase that item if you show them "hey I can get this at your competitor for less."

2. Check reviews. Before you buy a product, read the reviews! User reviews are becoming more and more important these days because we want to buy items that are reliable. Do your homework before making a purchase.

3. Coupons. Many apps like FourSquare have started initiating geo-targeted coupons. If you check-in, it will notify you of coupons in the surrounding area. Or checking in may allow you to get a certain percentage off at the particular store. I know I've scored 30% at LOFT for checking in on FourSquare.

For the fashionistas out there, eBay's Fashion app allows you to snap pictures of fabrics to find matching or compatible items on eBay. I would use something like this since I'm trying to find the best deal while shopping.
