My February Birchbox

Taking a break from Fashion Week coverage to bring you this month's Birchbox goodies! The theme was Red Carpet Ready in honor of the upcoming Academy Awards (seems like everyone is creating an Oscar-themed box this month). "In honor of all the nominees and winners... we've put together an assortment of products worthy of the red carpet." Here's what I received:

Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle Leave in Conditioner (full size $10.95) | Dr. Jart+ Black Label Detox BB Beauty Balm SPF 25 (.1 fl oz/1.69 $36) | Color Club Nail Polish in Wild Cactus (.25 fl oz/full size $10) | Juicy Couture Couture La La Eau de Parfum spray (.05 fl oz/1.7 oz $70) | Extra: Ghirardelli Milk Chocolate Square

I liked the bottle design but found it kind of odd that there was no website for the brand. According to Birchbox's website (where you can buy the product) "This paraden- and sulfate-free detangler seals the cuticles (the microscopic scales that compose the outermost layer of each strand of hair). It also smooths and moisturizes, thereby minimizing frizz, while safeguarding color and adding shine. Lastly, it provides protection against UV rays and heat. Happily, it accomplishes all this through a weightless, non-greasy formula that leaves behind an airy floral scent." I liked this spray, it left my hair feeling soft but not sure I can attest to the detangling part since my hair doesn't have that issue.

I've read great reviews during other Birchbox round-ups about Dr. Jart's BB Cream so have been dying to receive a sample. This bottle is already small but it was half empty! It took awhile to push out all the air to reveal that there was only a small fraction of actual product. A bit disappointing. Their site was also very hard to translate from Korean so once again I give you Birchbox's description: "Their premium formula is a five-in-one primer, serum, moisturizer, SPF, and sheer tint. It uses exotic caviar extract and other actives to tame problem complexions." I really liked this BB Cream! It blended with my skin tone well and evened out my skin tone. Just wish there was enough product to use more than once.

Always love getting a nail polish in my Birchbox. This Color Club polish is an emerald green which is not quite a color I was looking to add to my collection so will probably be passing this along.

Couture La La blends bright sparkling mandarin with bold white florals for a fragrance experience that captures the essence of femininity and daring allure of the unexpected. Juicy Couture perfumes are considered one notch above Bath & Body work perfumes but I like them *hump* I like fruity/floral scents and Couture La La isn't an overwhelming fragrance, which I like.

What did you get in your Birchbox this month?

    1. lmao yes in the perfume world. I often get mocked by my perfume snob friends/beauty bloggers for liking it. They say I need a real woman's perfume but I like their scents!! I liked it from what I could use... but yeah it was SO small :(

  4. Ahhh I haven't even been able to SEE what's in my birchbox online yet! Darn Nemo is ruining it for us Californians in unexpected ways. LOL. Oh man...a Ghirdardelli Milk & Caramel? MY FAVE! I want that polish in mine...Emerald is the color of the year so it makes sense, and I have no comparable shades!

  5. I have a Dr Jart sample too and I've heard good things. I'll have to try actually try it soon. Disappointing that it's so small though.

  6. That spray looks interesting. I need something really strong for my curly and frizzy hair. Can you purchase the product without being a Birchbox subscriber or do you have to have a Birchbox subscription?

    1. No you don't need to subscribe to Birchbox but you may need to make an account. I also found a bottle at Ricky's (your name says NY State of Mind) so I'm assuming you're in New York

  7. I can attest to the de-tangler! My daughter and I have hair that tangles if you look at it wrong, and this helped a ton. Also, unlike other de-tanglers, it didn't leave my hair feeling oily.

    1. Good to know! I tried it after teasing my hair and it did a good job of getting the knots out and not weighting my hair down

    2. Another note: it smells really good, so my daughter and I were sitting in the local ice cream place, smelling our hair like crazy people.
