MMG: Birthday Weekend

Yesterday I turned 29 -- gasp! I know... many women would be hiding under the sofa. No it's not quite 30 but still you get the comments "omg you're so old." I think women should proudly say their age because you've earned it! I would never want to go back to my early 20's. I made so many stupid mistakes and I'm such a wiser, more mature woman now. Sure I wish I was further along in my career and definitely didn't think I'd be where I am at 29 (both good and bad) but life never works out the way you expected and I can only hope that means there is something awesome awaiting me soon. The job process has been frustrating and can wear down your confidence so this month I decided to say YOLO and have a lot of awesome things lined up. Such as next weekend I'm meeting my lovely co-host Leeann for the first time! (P.S. Don't forget to say Happy Birthday to Leeann tomorrow!)

I kept the celebration low key and had dinner with fellow blogging buddies Laura, Alex & Nnenna at TAO along with some NYU friends. For dessert we ordered donuts and they graciously wrote happy birthday in delicious chocolate. I was home and in bed before it officially turned my birthday because I'm an old lady lol and I was quite happy with that.

  1. I hear you about thinking you'd be further a long in your career then you are now. I keep having little panic attacks not about turning 28 or being close to 30 but about where I am in my career/life and where I thought/want to be when I am 30. It's so funny when you are a kid 30 seems so old and years away. But really you graduate from college at 21/22 and your 20s is all about finding out who you are and what you want. By the time you are getting to 30 you are no trying to achieve what you finally figured out. UGH life. Anyway girl happy freaking birthdat. and i agree there is no shame about saying how old you are!

  2. Hope you had a great birthday!! And I agree with you: I'm in my mid 20's now and would hate to go back to my teens or early 20's. I'm so much more together and confident now.

  4. @heather yeah being 29 doesn't bother me but the career thing is. Growing up you think "by 30 I'll be the boss" lol nope. Thanks for the birthday wishes!

  5. @Sherin yey! I can't wait for my 30s for the same reasons - being more confident and together. Although I just read an article that apparently 29 is the best age lol

Thanks for the birthday wishes fellow Leo ;)
